Inside the Darkness (open)

Kane stood in front of the Murky River, watching the water run through. He continued to silently listen to the streaming water run by, listening to natures call. Soothing even for someone as evil as him. Kane cracked his neck, and flicked his wings. He looked up into the sky, and looked around. He was alone.

Jade was heading to Fargo's village from the fatal forest. There was nothing more the pixies needed her for and so she was going to try her luck among her own race. But seeing the beautiful lake made her pause. Perhaps a rest would be good. Her eyes were drawn to the strange creature that was standing by the lake. It seemed she wasn't the only one who enjoyed stargazing by a lake. Jade walked to the opposite side of the lake, as far from the weird guy as she could be.

I don't like the feeling that guys gives me. Maybe we should just go. Hiowie said worriedly.

Jade shrugged. "I'm sure it will be fine. Were not doing any thing wrong and he doesn't appear to be connected to the royal family in any way." She sat down by the lake. Her body ready incase Hiowie was right and the man decided to cause trouble.

Honestly how silly can you be? Theres tons of other lakes around. Being stubborn is only going to get you killed.....Your not even listening are you? Hiowie asked irritatedly. Fine do what you want but I'm not saving you....

"Hiowie please just be quiet. I'll only stay for a minute. We need to fill our water skins anyway."

Marth walked next to the lake to see two people, one who was filling her water skin and asked her, "What is up with that creepy man across the lake?" He had a puzzled look on his face and was able to figure out they probably had nothing to do with each other. He sat on the bank and waited for a reply, hoping Jade would sit down and have a conversation with him.

Kane looked at the two humanoids who were across the lake. He looked closely, a male and female. He didn't care for either of the two. And he didn't care to get involved. He looked around, and decided to make his way to the middle of the lake. His wings stretched out and levitated him above the water.

Jade looked at the human that had come close to her. "I have no clue who that guy is." She answered not even looking at the guy. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the creature moving toward the center of the lake. It was a cool trick to be able to levitat but she really wasn't all that interested. She packed up her water skins and was about to leave.

Hiowie gave a low warning growl as the human came close. Although this human didn't seem to mean Jade harm, it was good to be sure.

"Easy there Hiowie. There isn't anything to worry about. Everyone here is just relaxing by the lake, nobody is here to fight." She said trying to get Hiowie to back off. She didn't want to cause a scene.

"I'm Marth," he said no longer expecting a reply. He laid back and looked at the sky wishing he could see his sister again. He closed his eyes and relaxed, no longer noticing Kane across the lake. Unsure of how to get to the person that really overthrew his kingdom.

Kane smiled as his hand was engulfed in a spark of fire. His eyes began to burn. Slowly he chants and his entire body becomes engulfed in the fire. His open hand turns into a closed fist. His hand quickly opens, and the fire that was once covered in his body flies towards Marth, and Jade. "FIREBALL!"

Jade saw the fire ball heading toward her. She suddenly felt numb as her eyes widened in terror. As stupid as it was all she could do was stand there and think why fire? Why does it always have to be fire? Why is this dude throwing fire at me? What did i do wrong?


Jade! Move already! Get over your self and move!

It was too late it was getting closer. She had no will to move. It was almost like she was hypnotized by it.

Hiowie didn't know what he could do. Even if he were to put himself in the fireballs path it was useless. It was too strong, it would kill them both.

Marth jumped in the way and covered himself and Jade in his cape which was flame retardant, which made the fire go around them even though the temperature was hot they made it out. Marth grabbed Jade, and thought she seemed to be similar to his sister. Marth picked Jade up and ran off preying that Kane wouldn't see which way they were heading and he zig-zagged through the forest. Left and right dodging every tree and bush he could.

Kane watched him run away, and knew they would meet again. This man was now his enemy, but it was not time to finish him. He would let these two get to know one another, allowing their end to be painful. His plot began...

Hiowie followed Marth thought the trees. It was a good thing this guy showed up other wise Jade would have been dead. He would defiantly make sure Jade knew it when she snapped out of shock.

When Jade came around she found that she was being carried by the guy who was talking to her earlier. Suddenly she felt very angry. There was nothing worse then having to be saved by a total stranger, especially when she should have been able to do something about it herself. "Let me go!" She yelled at the man as she tried to get away from him.

Hiowie couldn't help but laugh despite the circumstances. Perhaps it slipped your mind but aren't you forgetting that your a water elemental? You could have easily stopped it if you would just learn to get over that fear.

The tips of Jades pointed ears turned pink. How embarrassing, he was right. "It's bad enough without you rubbing it in Hiowie!" She yelled. If only I could turn invisable...she thought.

Marth put down Jade next to a tree and let her free. He wondered as to why she was upset and sat next a different tree near her. He asked "Why are you upset? I only meant to do you good." He looked down and let the shade cover his eyes for a brief moment.

Kane watched them run. He would follow them, but he would do it in secret. He took flight high into the air, and began to watch them from the skies. Keeping his distance trying to stay out of view.

Jade Looked over the guy who had apparently saved her. " It wasn't necessary to save me..i would have done something." She was obviously lying but she definitely wasn't about to admit that she would have died if it weren't for him.

I'm grateful. Even if you aren't. Hiowie replied. Perhaps you should drop the act and just thank him.

"I don't even know him and i refuse to say anything to him." Jade told the wolf in a low voice. Trying to avoid seeming like a nut case in front of the stranger.

Hiowie rolled his eyes. You really need to learn better manners.

"Well, I acted in the spur of the moment, and you looked in need." He replied, "You reminded me of my sister who was killed by an evil priest, and I didn't want you to be held to the same fate." He took of his tiara and stared at it. He had a tear in his right eye hoping Jade wouldn't see it. He finally regained his breathe and took a drink of his water and laid down.

Jade made no comment on the tear or what the guy was saying. Although she could relate to how it felt to lose someone. "Hiowie says thanks." She said getting tired of her friend bugging her about it.

Hiowie gave a satisfied smile. Knowing that she would never say it her self, but the fact that she even mentioned what he said to a stranger...was somewhat of an improvement.
