An Unsolved Mystery

Lucien gasped as Ying chucked the book to her brother. Finally remembering to breath he let it out and shook his head violently. "Not to be a weenie or anything but these are antiques and important to me." Lucien began to flip through the book, not noticing anything important. Nothing seemed to appeal to him. Setting the book down he realized how boring this was going to be.

"You guys don't have to help me if you don't want to. I can do this on my own later. I have plenty of time left to do it. I mean, I am half immortal." Lucien looked the two over, not wanting to make them do anything they didn't want to do. He didn't like to force people to do things unless he was feeling bossy. Today he wasn't feeling bossy and the Human was in control. All was well.

Ying smiled "It's fine we really don't have anything better to do." She flipped through the books one by one not really finding anything. "So what do you do for fun when your not reading these?" She asked Lucien.

Yang was doing the same. "Hey, is this it?" He said holding up a book that had a picture that looked similar to the necklace.

Lucien shrugged and went back to flipping the pages. He really wanted to see if he was connected with the necklace. Looking to Ying for a moment he answered her question. "I'm a boring person. I normally don't do much. Fun isn't a word that I use frequently. But, I like to sing, dance, read, and occasionally kick things for 'fun'." Lucien smiled- he had added the kick part just for the heck of it. Looking to Yang and the book the boy held in his hands, the prince stood and walked over to him.

Taking out the necklace Lucien held it up to the crudely drawn picture, smiling as it seemed to be nearly identical. Taking the book gently from Yang, Lucien literally plopped down in the dirt. Reading the description slowly he blinked furiously and tried to figure out what this could mean. Apparently the necklace was a gift and his grandmother had lost it near the falls. The necklace wasn't much but it did seem to have an ability or something judging by the woman's word choice.

"Yay we found it. Good job Yang!" Ying said happily "And you were the one being all bored and grumpy about it, yet you were the one that found it." She said while rubbing his head in a teasing way.

"Oy! Stop doing that, and i still think it was boring. I guess i'm just lucky." He said while getting up and stretching. "So what does it say?"

"Wouldn't you like to know." Lucien mumbled, absorbed in the book. It said somethings about the key and then trailed off to a totally different subject. Lucien had more things in common with his grandma than he'd expected. Looking up to Ying and Yang Lucien finally decided to tell them what the book said; they had helped him find it, right? "It was a gift, she loved it, and it seems to be able to do an unknown ability." Lucien smiled lightly and went back to reading.

Growing tired of the book he stood and sat it back on his small stack of books. Stretching for a moment he looked to the twins and grinned playfully. "Wanna go do something?"

"Is that all. You made it seem more important then that." Ying commented when Lucien finally told them what the necklace was about. Her eyes brightened when Lucien asked if they wanted to do some thing. She jumped up and down excitedly. "Yay my first date. Grand pa just asked me out!"

"Calm down would you? He didn't ask you out... one your annoying, two he is way older then you and three he invited me to. If it was an actual date he wouldn't have asked me." Yang told his sister irritatedly

"How would you know? He didn't say who, he just said and i quote 'wanna go do something?' So there!" Ying retorted back.

I'll never understand why your so obsessed with a guy we only met a few days ago.And why you would want to date him, especially considering you call him grand pa half the time.... Yang commented to his sister telepathically.

Lucien raised an eyebrow and laughed when Ying made the comment on the whole 'date' thing. Watching Yang correct his sister and name off the faults of the question, the prince sighed and shook his head. His smile stayed planted on his face, his eyes were bright and gleamed eerily in the darkness. Hoping that they were done he decided to speak, forcing himself not to laugh whilst talking. Those two sure were entertaining.

"But really, do you want to go do something? It's kind of boring here." This question was asked equally to both of the twins, Lucien looking to both of them while asking. There wasn't really a place to take anyone on a 'date' around here, anyways.... Unless you went to the Inn. Well, that wasn't really a good place. Too many drunken fools hanging around the bar. Intoxicated people were the people Lucien disliked the most. Then again it was quite funny to watch them roam around and crash into things and fall down.

Ying looked at Lucien still smiling. "Sure i would love to. Just say where." She walked over to Lucien and wrapped her arms around his and pulled him close. "I don't care what ethier of you say, to me it's a date." She said teasingly. She was having fun with this game, Lucien and her brother were so fun to annoy.

Lucien's eyes widened as Ying pulled him close, not knowing how to react. The first emotion that came to him was embarassment, the next was shock. Third came panic. The vampire thought she smelled horrible, the werewolf had something else in mind, and the human was doing mental somersaults because it didn't know what else to do. Lucien froze and just stood there like an idiot, really not knowing what to do. He was lost.

Thinking for a moment Lucien still couldn't decided on an emotion. Words flooded into his mind and he stumbled over them as he tried to speak his mind. "Call it... call it what you want, but... Perhaps we should go to the..." Lucien broke off and swallowed, not knowing where to go. To be completely honest Ying was being kind of scary right now. Trying desperatley to find a place he searched his mind and finally thought of a place, wondering if it as the right thing to say. "Meadow?" The next thoughts accused Lucien of being an idiot, telling him he should've said ocean or the river. Then again, the meadow was very pretty if the fireflies were out...

Ying let go of Lucien and began to burst out laughing. "Aww i'm sorry i didn't realize you would take it like that. Say something next time, and the meadow is fine." Sometimes she took things to far not realizing it bothered people. She really didn't mean anything by it, it was just her way of having fun.

Yang shook his head at her. "Seriously Ying you can't go around doing that to people. You need to learn to tone yourself down a little bit."

"I said i was sorry! And besides he didn't say anything. "

Lucien gave a bewildered expression and did a quick palm-face. "No, no, it'f fine. I should've known that she was just joking." Smiling Lucien sheepishly laughed it off, amazed at his own stupidity. Sighing after a few seconds he rubbed the back of his neck, shaking his head. That wasn't all that great. Perhaps he could forgive himself? Chasing the thoughts away like an old woman would a cat, he thought for a moment and then looked to the twins.

"If we're going to go to the meadow I hope you're prepared to walk." Lucien smiled and shed his cloak, streatching his legs. Hopefully they would be able to run there, the quicker and more reasonable way to arrive.

Ying grinned about his walking comment. He had no idea what he was in for. "Ok. lead the way Grand pa." Her and Yang would probably be able to beat him there without even trying.

"Heres a hint she is joking about 98% of the time." Yang said grinning. It took a while but after a while it became easy to guess when Ying was fooling around.

"Thanks for the tip, Yang." Thinking for a moment Lucien smiled, coming up with an idea. "Whaddya say we race?" Grinning he shifted into his vampire form and flashed his teeth. This oughta be interesting. If not his vampire form he could even it out a little by going werewolf, but vampire seemed good enough right now. Human didn't really even have a chance at beating the two, for it was slower and didn't have near enough stamina. Thinking about this for a moment Lucien waited for the twins, staying where he was for a few seconds longer.

The twins looked at each other and smiled. "sounds fun".

"You sure about this gramps?" Ying said smiling. She walked over so that she was beside him.

Yang went beside his sister. "So what are the rules of the race going to be?" It was a good idea to set down some rules. That way nobody got overly competitive and end up killing each other. It was also good to note whether changing forms would be allowed or not.

Lucien thought for a moment, deciding that it would be nice to have rules and that he was sure about this. "Fine then. You can take whatever course you want. No physical contact; tackling, hitting, shoving, etc. Whatever form you're using you have to start out in that form, no changing in the middle of the race. Anything else?" Lucien listed the rules whilst having his hands on his hips, a grin on his face. This should be fun and actually rather interesting. Lucien studied the twins, the smile locked on his face. It shouldn't be leaving his features soon...

"Another addition to the rules; if you are the winner you aren't allowed to relentlessly rub it in the two loser's faces. That's not nice."

"ok that sounds good" Ying said. "so how do we know who wins? usually there is something you do to confirm that you win, that way there is no fights or accusations of cheating." She did a few quick stretches.

"Wait what about unfair advantages? If you two decide to change into werewolves then i won't have a chance because i can't change at will." Yang added.
