An Unsolved Mystery

Lucien followed the firefly with his eyes, happy with the sight, feeling peace wash over him and engulf him. Switching over to his human side he felt even better staring at the bugs, taking in what a wonder they really were. Listening to Ying quietly he turned to her and shrugged. "To be honest, I have no idea whether or not I will. It would be better safety wise not to do anything, but it may actually be better for an opposing force to stand up to the Hybrids. If I do I have no idea how I will do it or anything. I've been to occupied with... other things." Lucien said this flat out, no problem, the vampire reacting wildly inside of him. It opposed to anything along the lines of being a king. The other two races quickly shut it up and stopped it from rebelling, making sure Lucien's body didn't start being retarded.

"Oh ok then." Ying said a little disappointedly. She felt kind of bad knowing that someone with his potential would throw this opportunity away. Like most girls her age she dreamed of being in charge of the whole kingdom and all the things she could do to make it a better place. It just seemed odd that someone with a chance to be king and do all of those things, would turn it away. "Well if i was queen i would make it a law that all kids can get free candy." She said trying to make light of the matter. "What would you do Yang?"

Yang grinned and chuckled. "I would have annoying sisters thrown in the dungeon where they will be forced to eat nothing but brussels sprouts forever."

Lucien suppressed a laugh when Yang said what he would do. A smile did manage to grace his features, however, making him appear to be just happy. "Well, taking all things into consideration, where would you get the candy? Or the brussel sprouts? Although having power would be nice I think it's better to pass on it. Too much power can make you go loopy. I'm loopy enough, I believe." Lucien added that in, thinking about his three races and the fact that he could almost be considered as a hybrid himself. He would have to think a little more about controlling a kingdom, though, because it would be easier said than done. He would need followers, friends, and a place to rule over. Warfare wasn't worth it, too many innocent lives could be lost.

"I never thought about where you would get candy. If your in charge it's someone else's problem and you don't have to think about things like that." Ying commented. She smiled when Lucien mentioned why he wouldn't want to be king. "And it's that reason why i think you would be the best king ever. Because you are more considerate and thoughtful about what you do. Sure sometimes you act like a jerk, we all do sometimes. Most of the time though you treat people how you would want to be treated."

"She is right you know. And i think that if it came down to it, we would be in your corner. Consider us your first followers." Yang said in response. Surprising himself and likely the other two with this comment. Maybe it was just because his sister was so influential, or maybe he was starting to trust Lucien. He didn't really know, but somehow it felt right.

Ying hugged her brother. "Yes! There is hope for you yet. " she said grinning and then turning to Lucien. "So now that were getting all serious and sentimental, you had better not let us down."

Lucien stared at the two, truly touched by their words. Not knowing what to do or what to say he just stood there, like an idiot, bewidered. As usual. That wasn't a good thing. Lucien began to think about things, really not knowing what to do. Again, he would have to think on it. Perhaps he would actually want to become a ruler. It would probably take forever but he might be able to acheive that goal... after an eternity of hard work. "Thanks, guys, but I still don't know about this. It couldn't hurt to try but, how would you do it? I'm not good at taking action. I like to sit along the sidelines and watch. It's just who I am. If I had to do that I'd also have to find a way to restore that ruined old castle... It would take forever.

"You'll figure something out gramps. But first you have to get rid of the evil people that are in charge now. As for the castle... thats so ordinary. Why not be different and just live in a normal house like other people. We can leave the castle as it is for...i don't know education or something." Ying said cheerily.

Lucien thought about that. The evil little thing in the back of his mind was telling him that if he wanted a castle he could just take over the hybrids' castle. That would be challenging. Smiling to himself he twiddled his thumbs, still staring at the fireflies. "Well I have enough time to think on it and think on it I shall. To overthrow people that are in charge it will take more than just a little effort. It would probably take a decent plan and such." Perhaps the little thing in the necklace could help him. It would be harder than most things to overthrow four nymphs, let alone jack their castle afterward.

"Then you need to work on your social skills and meet more people. Because just you , me , and Yang wont be able to get rid of the people who are in charge now." Ying said going over to Lucien and putting her fingers on his the sides of his mouth. "First you need to start smiling, you really are more sexy when you do."

Lucien smiled when Ying said that, not knowing what else to do. It was just kind of funny to see someone act that way. "With a good plan almost anything is possible but I'll get more followers eventually. Normally if I'm unreasonably happy I talk a lot and I get people to like me. And as for the smiling thing; some people would choose my side due to looks and others would choose me for my tactics and things like that. Some people prefer the grumpier people, believe it or not." Lucien thought about smiling more often, deciding that it wouldn't hurt to do it a little more often. It couldn't hurt, could it? Being happy wasn't nessacarily a bad thing. Being overly happy was, though.

Ying grinned at Lucien. "See? Your doing better all ready." She frowned a little when he mentioned tactics and planning. "That kind of sounds boring but i suppose we have to help with that to." Ying sat down and watched the fireflies again. She wondered if anyone else was enjoying the night sky.

Yang was wondering if it was a good idea to be helping Lucien. It would be dangerous and he didn't want to see anyone get hurt. After thinking about it though he couldn't imagine someone as crazy as Ying dying so easily. And it was even harder to picture anyone wanting to kill her. But it was possable.....All Yang could do was hope that Lucien wouldn't put their lives in danger unnecessary.

Lucien sighed and sat on the ground, laying back in the grass. The grass was soft and comforting, even if it was cold. The prince stared up at the sky, not really wanting to say anything. It was nice like this. Silence didn't hurt anyone and it actually helped him keep his head attached. It wasn't a creepy silence either; it was peaceful. That encouraged him to keep the silence going. It wasn't worth it to disturb the quiet, especially when he had nothing to say.

The silence was nice but if it kept up any longer Ying would have no choice but to say something. She couldn't stand silence for to long. When there was silence she had no choice but to think about things, and that was boring. Absentmindedly she played with a blade of grass while watching the sky.

Yang layed down on the ground and closed his eyes. It was really peaceful and calming. It felt like there was nothing and no one but him and the sky. Nothing to think or worry about it was nice.

A crash came from the forest, making Lucien sit up abruptly and scan the area. It was probably just an animal or something. Maybe a tree fell over. Nothing should be out this late at night. Lucien kept his eye on the woods and his mouth shut, making sure to stay as quiet as possible. It wasn't anything, it couldn't be. Taking his eyes off the wood for a moment he looked to the twins, curiousity written all over his face. He wanted to go check it out, see what it was. It would be best to go alone and holler for help if it was needed. Putting people in danger wasn't on his to do list.

The twins jumped up, they had heard the crash to. They looked at Lucien expecting it to be one of his tricks.

"Are you still fooling around with that necklace or was that actually something?" Ying asked. She also scanned the woods, and she smelled the air trying to identify the person or thing that interrupted their peace.

We never get any chance to relax do we? Yang grumbled to his sister.

Lucien smirked and shook his head. He wasn't screwing around with the necklace anymore, he had gotten done with that. Stupid piece of jewelry had frightened him enough to make sure that the thing that was trapped inside it stayed there. Pushing the thoughts aside he refocused on the problem around. Lucien stood up and looked around once more, starting toward the noise. There hadn't been an echoing crash or the sounds of protest coming from another tree, so it had to be a living thing. Probably just an animal, though.

Cautiously making his way over to the forest he stopped midstep just as another crash came from behind him. This was extremely frustrating and probably not an animal. Lucien began to be more on guard, taking everything in. The mood of the air, the sights, the sounds, the smells, even the way the grass squished over when he stepped on it. This was going to be eventful.

The twins stood behind Lucien anxiously watching the forest.

"Do you think it could be that hybrid from a few days ago?" Yang asked. Whoever it was it was likely there to kill or capture Lucien. Or they could be after him and his sister for stealing stuff. Either way it wasn't going to be good.

"well you never know the person might not be here to cause harm. They could just be really clumsy." Ying said brightly. Although in reality she was sure it was probably not there to be friends. Nice people don't sneak up on others.
