An Unsolved Mystery

Lucien smirked and kicked a clump of dirt. "I doubt our little buddy Xander is out there. There is a chance it could be a Hybrid or someone else." Thinking these things over Lucien approached the other portion of the forest, senses on full alert. If whoever it was kept switching areas it would be extremely annoying, not to mention frustrating. It could be a frightened animal... he hoped it was a frightened animal. It was nice without the stinking crashes coming from the forest. Stopping for a moment the prince thought he had heard foot prints coming from behind him, hoping that he was mistaken. Turning slowly he saw nothing abnormal, really, just the targets, grass, and trees.

Feeling a bit mischievous Ying sneaked up on Lucien and was going to scare him but was stopped by Yang who gave her a light smack on the back of her head.

"oh no you don't. This is serious, and besides he is already tense enough. " The male twin said in a stern voice. "You really need to control you impulses."


Ying smiled innocently. "What do you mean?" She sighed when she saw that playing innocent wasn't working. "Your worse then grand pa , both of you always ruining my fun."

"Well grand pa is busy and is already freaked out enough. If you had disturbed him he might have accidentally hurt you. And that would not have been fun." Yang said shaking his head in disbelief. Of all the times she could have picked to be in a pranking mood she had to pick now.

Lucien studied the two, wondering how crazy they really were. It was actually rather entertaining to watch them bicker but he wasn't going to admit to that any day soon. Another crash came from behind the prince, making him spin around again and power walk into the woods. Looking around he was nearly trampled by a large black beast a few seconds after entering. "What the crap is going on? I don't like to be smooshed, you know. Calm yourself you frickin' tart." The words were a series of mumbles, not really able to be heard.

It was so dark in the woods that Lucien could barely see his pale hand right in front of his face. Busily listening once again he was actually knocked over, met by a soft sensation along his left cheek. Lucien sat up and patted the animal, trying to figure out what it was. A human wouldn't have been that fuzzy. A dog wouldn't have been that tall. The only thing that gave it away to be a horse was the ragged halter on its face and the way it had been spooked. The presence of a person seemed to have calmed it down.

The twins followed Lucien into the woods.

Ying smiled "aww it's just a horse. It's cute." Then she started laughing. "I can't believe we were all so worked up over a horse."


"i wonder why it is here" Yang said

"The poor thing probably got lost and is looking for it's person" Ying commented. She slowly moved her hand over to the horse to pet it. Hopefully it wouldn't bite her.

((Nah, it don't bite. It kicks. I has a plan.... The owner is....))

Lucien stood up and searched the ground for a lead rope, angry when he could find one. Next he checked for reins attached to the halter and came up with a slender leather strap. "C'mon horsey. Come out of the woods." Lucien pulled the horse along behind him, happy when he finally made it out of the woods and into the moonlight. IT was nice out here. The horse stayed right behind the prince, nibbling on his back pocket occasionally, probably looking for a treat.

Lucien stopped and turned around, studying the horse. Seeing a little blood trickling down it's leg his blood lust began to kick in, beginning to drive him crazy. Ignoring the thoughts he stared at the wound, glad it wasn't bleeding more. "Aww poor horsey. Did you get a booboo?" Lucien looked at the big black eyes of the big black horse and smiled, patting it's muzzle. It was a nice horsey. Maybe it didn't have an owner.

The twins followed the horse and Lucien out of the woods. They both started laughing when they heard how Lucien was talking to the horse.

"I had no idea you were so...affectionet." Ying commented. She looked over the horse. Save for it's minor injury it seemed well taking care of. So it had to have an owner, the question was where.

A kid burst screaming out of the forest, clad in the clothing of a peasant from the city. The boy managed to crash into Yang, eyes wide and embarassed. "Sorry! I'm so, so sorry! You see, mister Pierson told me that if I didn't find Percy I'd be whipped and I don't like being whipped. Percy is his best horse and... PERCY!" The boy ran over to the horse, ignoring everyone but the animal. "Oh, Percy! Never do that again." The boy stroked the horse patiently, happy to be reunited with the animal.

Lucien was startled when the boy came out of the woods, but the horse just looked annoyed. When the boy came over and began patting the horse Lucien debated on letting the beast go just to see what it would do. When the boy finally acknowledged him he began digging through his pocket, pulling out a single gold coin. Lucien eyed the coin wearily, wondering what it was for. "Here, sir. If you'll just give me my Percy back I'll be out of your hair forever." The boy held out the coin, his other hand waiting or the reins.

"Keep your money. You can take Percy back anyways." Lucien gave the reins to the boy and folded the coin back into his hand. It wasn't Lucien job to take some random kid's money.

Yang was about to get angry and yell but didn't when he saw that it was only a kid. "be careful next time." He said but smiled good naturedly.

Ying watched the boy she smiled slightly. The poor kid was so frighted it was almost funny. She thought for a moment and wondered that if someone could treat a kid like that then what were they doing to the horse? Her eyes were fixed on the horse, she could tell by how it was acting that something wasn't right. I don't think the horse wants to go. Something is up.

"Maybe we should all go see this mister Pierson and straighten things out. That way you won't get in trouble for losing the horse."Yang said. To his sister he added and see just what kind of man this guy is.

((Too Mr. Pierson's house we go... -plays the charge sound on a trombone-))

Lucien studied the two, wondering what they were thinking. When going to Mister Pierson's house was brought up the kid and Lucien exchanged looks, wondering what to do next. "I didn't lose him. Percy ran away. He hates me. Last time I was around him he kicked me hard as he could and then he ran away. But I can take you to mister Pierson if you'd like." Lucien stared at the worried look resting upon the boy's face, wondering if that would be the smartest thing to do. It may not be, because that Mister Pierson dude might whip the boy for bringing people.

"Or we could just follow and supervise the goings-on. We don't really have to make contact with Mister Pierson unless absoletly nessacery." Lucien shrugged, patting Percy's neck. It was a high-dollar-horsey, that was for sure. A pretty animal with a hot head, probably stubborn as a mule, too.

"Good idea grand pa" Ying said smiling when Lucien said that they should just observe from a far. "But if it turns bad we are going to step in." She said. Although she would have much preferred to make contact. It would have been easier to determine what was going on.

"Then it's settled. We follow you and hope that nothing goes wrong." Lucien patted Percy once more and walked voer to stand by the twins. "Lead the way then, kid." Lucien didn't know what the boy's name was, so the best he could come up with was either boy, kid, child, or some other rude comment. Kid sounded the best. The boy led them back to the forest, taking them on a narrow path. Percy followed along slowly, bored, refusing to be led by the boy. Lucien had switched and led the horse, the beast somehow managing to take a liking to him.

Either that or it hated the boy. It did seem to want to run away whenever the little stinker touched it, even looked at it. The horse didn't like little people, apparently.

The twins followed without a word. Both watching how the horse reacted to the boy. The more they saw the more certain they were that something was going on with the horse. But what they wondered, the horse seemed to be well looked after. They was nothing other then it's strange behavior that suggested something was off. However they learned early that this was often the case, someones behavior could always revel how the person/animal was treated and raised.

Arriving at the house the boy walked up and opened the gate. It was quite a large house, big enough to make Lucien's jaw drop. No normal person lived in a house like that. The boy went into the stables and then into the house. Lucien motioned for the twins to follow him and walked around the back of the fenced in area, climbing over the back fence. Once inside he crept up beside the house and peered in the window. Nothing really seemed to be going on besides the fact that there was a line of teenagers standing in front of a fat man. "Buddha, Buddha, Buddha buddy!" Lucien said it in a hushed manner, trying to listen in on the conversation. The kid he had met seemed to be taking a verbal beating. The man reached up to grab a whip off the mantle and that's when a crash came from the barn.

Lucien darted away from the window and stared at the barn, watching Percy walked out. Obviously he didn't like it here. Lucien shook his head and pointed toward the barn, glaring at the horse. Percy, in return, went back inside and began to munch on the hay. The fat man walked out the door a few seconds after, dragging the kid by the collar. "See?" Lucien studied the man, wondering what he planned on doing to the boy.

The twins followed Lucien and watched the scene.

Ying gasped when she saw what the guy was planning on doing. "Lucien we have to help." She said quietly. She didn't want to see the kid get hurt. They should just take both the kid and the horse and leave. This wasn't right, how could someone be so cruel?

Yang watched his jaw set angrily. He wanted to do something as well.

Lucien looked at Ying, not having any idea of what to do. They couldn't just go out there and tell the man not to. For all they knew the man coulld be his father or his master or something. Lucien looked back toward the man and the kid, wondering what would happen next. "Put Percy back in his stall, Roland." The man pushed Roland forward, the boy trying to stay upright. He slowly made his way over to Percy, who kicked at him. Lucien realized the problem then and there; the horse.

"It's Percy's fault." Blame it on the horse. But it had to be the beast's fault; it wasn't the Roland's fault that the horse didn't like staying in its stall. The boy finally managed to coax Percy away from the hay and back into his stall, closing the barn doors behind him. Lucien was trying to figure out something to do when he got an idea; one that may or may not work. "You two have any money?"

Ying smiled happily. "oh Grand pa has an idea. I think we might have some. But i don't think it would be enough to buy a horse like that." She handed over her money and her brother did the same. "so that is what were doing right.....buying the horse?" Thats the direction it seemed to be heading, buying the boy didn't make much sense.
