An Unsolved Mystery

"Either buying the horse or offering to pay for the inconvience. I do hope I won't get killed." Lucien said this in a hushed whisper, pulling out his own little stash of money from one of his back pockets. Grinning he turned around the corner and walked right up to the man, tapping him on the shoulder. The man whirled around and nearly punched Lucien in the face. "Who are you and what are your reasons for trespassing?" The short, fat man stuck a stubby finger in the prince's face. Lucien was tempted to bite it but restrained the urge.

"I just noticed your marvelous beast over there as I was passing by. I wondered how much I could buy it from you for." Lucien shrugged, staring at the finger. The man pulled his hand away and stared into Lucien's eyes. "What makes you think it's for sale? What makes you think that I'd sell it to a heathen like you?" The word heathen really ticked Lucien off, making him want to grab the man by the throat. Swallowing he again restrained himself, telling his mind that Mister Pierson didn't mean it. "I'll have you know that I have more power than I seem to have. I can really screw up your life if I want to. Now, how much for the horse?"

The man studied Lucien, as if analyzing him. Apparently he didn't think the prince was kidding, so he spat out a single word. "500." Lucien looked through the gold, realizing that he was short by a bit more that three hundred. "I ain't got that much on hand. Will you go any lower or do I have to go back to my castle and dig more out of my mountains of gold?" Lucien emphasized the last few words, trying to make himself seem rich. Apparently it had worked. Either that or the word castle did.

The twins watched Lucien from their hiding spot. Ying wanted to follow but Yang held her back. They hoped this would work and that Lucien wouldn't get killed. They were both curious as to what was going on with the horse. The horse did seem to be causing problems but why? They hoped Lucien would find a way to help the kid to.

"Fine. Take the horse. But I do expect future payment. Can I have your name?" The man asked this after folding his hands across his chest. Roland stood watching the conversation, looking a bit bewildered. Lucien held the money out to the man and Mister Pierson took it and shoved it into his pouch. "My name is Prince Robert Cheyenne. Nice meeting you, sir." Lucien walked over to the stable and led Percy out, the horse following without a problem. The prince waved to Mister Pierson and helped himself to the exit. Opening the gate he shut it behind him, walking on the stone rode toward the actual town. Percy's hooves made a faint clop the whole way.

"Well that holoform does know how to negotiate with fat men." The actual Lucien grinned at the twins, wondering if they had noticed that it wasn't actually him. That was fun. "Well I think we should get out of here. Don't wanna get caught, you know."

The twins nearly jumped in surprise when they heard Lucien right behind them. They looked at him bewilderedly. How could they not of noticed he was still there? The twins began to walk back the way they came.

"Cool trick Grand pa, it seems that the holoform not only can take on your appearance but it can disguise where you actually are to. " Ying said in an excited whisper to Lucien. "so why do you think the horse was acting so strangely and do you think the kid will be alright?" She asked after a while.

Lucien got out and away from the house as quickly as possible. The place scared him. "I have no idea why it was acting strangely. Too bad I don't know anyone who talks to animals. And I'm sure the kid will be fine, the fat man seemed to feel better after 'Prince Robert' talked to him." Lucien snickered and made his way over to the road. It was hard telling where his holoform ad Percy had went, but he was sure they'd find the two after a little searching.

"So have either of you two been to this town?" Lucien didn't get out much and didn't like going to places with a lot of people. He liked to hide his face and not have anybody saying 'Hey I know that guy!'. He liked being unknown, it was conforting and he didn't have many enemies that he knew about.

" Then i guess that horse will remain a mystery, like you." Ying said thoughtfully. "no we stick to forest areas where it is easier to hide. " She answered when Lucien asked if the twins new the area. Maybe they would find someone in this city that could speak to animals. Yang how do you find people who can talk to animals?

How should I know? It's not like people go around broadcasting that kind of thing. And you can't really tell by looking at people.

Aww to bad. Maybe we can just ask around.

Then people will think were crazy.

Lucien started forward, trudging along. He was a bit reluctant to go into a little sleepy town without reason. Hopefully his holoform wouldn't do anything stupid. "Mystery is just on of the things I strive to be. I don't like people knowing me. It tends to drive me crazy sometimes. That is why I'm unpredictable most of the time." Lucien had no personality that was really set in stone, the only thing that was happened to be his explosive temper and his bad habits. The town was coming up faster and faster, lit up a little by lamps that lined the street.

Ying shrugged at Lucien's comment and just kept walking. She was kind of excited to go to a city. Her and her brother were never in one before. Hopefully there would be a lot of interesting people to meet. She began to run toward the city, once at the entrance she waited for the others. "Come on guys."

Lucien sighed and picked up his pace a little. He wasn't all that enthused to go into the city, not really wanting to and reluctant to continue forward. Stopping by the gate he waited for Ying to open it. He wasn't really wanting to for some reason, it was like the gate was poisonous. Wasn't there a slave trade here? With that thought striking his mind he shuddered and shook his head. This was a dark place where trouble brewed, he could tell. What awaited them inside? Hopefully nothing dangerous... after all they were only going in there for a holoform and a horse.

I don't think this is a good idea sis. And it looks like Lucien doesn't either. Yang said when he reached the gate.

Ying studied the two wondering what they were worried about, and if perhaps they were right about this. "We do have to get the horse back. So unless you have some device that can make the holoform and the horse come back, we have to go and get them." She said to Lucien. She didn't open the gate, instead she waited to see what he said.

"Well I get that part of it but I don't see why we can't wait until daylight. For all we know there is a group of soldiers right inside this gate waiting to ambush people." Lucien didn't say anything about the slave trade. He didn't want to talk about that. The gate was tall and looked heavy, meant to keep unwanted things out of the city. Not to mention the fact that there was a huge stone wall around it. Venalicium Town was supposed to be something like a safe haven but from the prince's point of view it was anything but. Then again, once inside, it was safe for some people. The people who weren't slaves or 'worthless commoners'. Lucien needed to make his own little town.

Ying smiled. "ok then we will wait for day if you think thats best. where should we wait?" She asked. She really didn't care when or where they went as long as she was with them. It was so cute how protective they were of her.

"Any where other then the middle of a trial to a scary fortress like city." Yang said, also having doubt's of the safety of the city.

Lucien looked around, trying to find a good place to hide. "You know, it wouldn't surprise me if they opened the gates to the city when it was daylight." Lucien continued to look around. It was pretty much bare off to the sides, no vegetation or anything. There wasn't really a place to hide anywhere around here. Sighing he placed a hand on the back of his head and trudged forward. Maybe there was something around the corner of the walls that would be suitable. "Well... we could probably go over there but if trouble arises there isn't really anywhere to hide." Lucien shrugged, failing to come up with anything else.

The twins shrugged. They would do whatever Lucien thought was best. He seemed to know what he was doing and he was way older. Although they were both starting to wonder if maybe they should have just stayed in the medow. They agreed that sooner they got the horse and left the better.

Lucien looked up at the sky and saw the moon slowly making its way over to the other side of the sky. It should be there in a little while, about an hour. The prince made his way over to the other side of the wall and sat against the cool rock. He closed his eyes for a moment, wondering what could possibly go on to save him from boredom. Hopefully something would spark conversation or something. This was horrible. Boring. Ugh worthy.

Jade was walking toward the city. A stranger told her that there was a lot of workers needed in the city. She noticed three people near the wall. She wondered what the heck they were doing.

Ying was about to sit down to when she noticed an elf girl not much older then her heading their way. She even had a cute pet wolf. She ran over to the girl eager to make friends. After all, she was surrounded by boys and it would be nice to have a female friend. "Hi, Whats your name?"

Jade blinked when one of them, a young girl by the looks of it came her way. " yo." She said and kept walking.

"Aw come back, you know the city probably isn't safe at night." Ying called.

Jade turned around and looked at the girl. "Is there something you wanted?" She asked coldly.

I think it is called being polite and wanting to make friends. Hiowie commented in a bored tone.
