An Unsolved Mystery

Lucien watched as the random girl appeared, eyes widening when Ying ran right up to her. The prince looked to Yang, an expression saying is-your-sister-really-that-nuts? Lucien didn't like the girl already; the way she was immediatley rude and hateful. It made Lucien want to cringe. "You know, you probably could be a bit nicer to a person who is just trying to make friends and be nice, chick." Lucien sighed and sat back against the wall, closing his eyes.

Yang shrugged when Lucien looked at him. Yang went over to his sister and stood beside her. "Hey lady don't talk to be sister that way."

Ying smiled at the boys and then looked at the girl wondering what her problem was.

Jade gave the oldest male stranger a glare. "I'm no 'chick'. And who are you to say how i choose to interact with people. Are you their father or something? If so then maybe you should keep on eye on your kids. For all you or they know i could have been a deranged homicidal maniac" She flipped her hair back and turned her attention to the kids, twins by the look of it. "You guys got that, do not run up to total strangers like that. Making friends or not, you can get hurt."

I find it amazing how mean you can be...and yet at the same time you seem to be concerned about them. Hiowie said smiling to himself.

"Oh please, i'm just picking up their fathers slack. I don't care, but that doesn't mean i can just let these morons continue as they are." Jade retorted back to Hiowie.

((Sorry, had to do this. It's just who he is. He calms down toward the end, though. ))

Lucien's jaw dropped and his eyes flared with rage. "Have you no brain? You are an uneducated little moron. I'm pretty sure that I look about three years older than them and yet somehow I'm their father. Wow. You have no say over what I do, either, friggin' hypocrite. I have no right to call you a 'chick' and you have no right to tell me what to do or to automatically assume I'm their father. You probably are a deranged homicidal maniac. For all I know you're my grandmother! Good Lord, woman! You don't just go around and do that. Have you no manners? I'll pay you if you'll go fall off a cliff or something." Lucien had stood and was a few octaves from shouting. His words were straight and to the point. He didn't stutter or anything, made no vocal mishap. His face was dead serious and he looked like a creature of the night. The temper had taken control momentarily, making him seem a bit like a psychopath.

"Bloody people. Think they can go around doing that. Condesending fools. They have no idea how many enemies they make doing that." Lucien had allowed the Vampire to take control. This was a bit too much anger for his little human mind to handle. Brushing his hair out of his face he stopped abruptly as a far off nicker came to him, from inside the wall. "Hold on, Percy." This was whispered quietly, yellow eyes fixated on the wall. He turned around and focused his attention back on the mouthy blonde, debating on whether or not to stick around. She was annoying.

Jade listened to the creepy guy’s words smiling slightly. “Well for one thing I’m not as 'uneducated' as you may think. I assumed you were their father because even though you may look young, I know that you are actually much older. I'm and Elf, I know another immortal when I see one. Secondly I really doubt much I’m even related to you, let alone your grandmother. I suppose we can both be thankful for that. And finally if I was a homicidal mananic, I would be chopping you and your companions to pieces instead of arguing with you." She said to him in a calm tone. She was completely unfazed by his reaction; she got it a lot and didn't really care.

I like the jumping off a cliff idea, let’s try it. Hiowie said in joking tone to Jade.

Jade rolled her eyes in response.

The twins watched the two argue wondering if there was going to be a fight.

“Hey, i noticed just a minute ago you seemed to have been talking to your wolf. Can really talk to animals or are you just crazy? Ying asked curiously.

Yang tried to cover up a laugh. His sister was being a bit to blunt with her questions. Which probably was not a good idea, but it was still quite funny.

Jade looked at the girl twin a bit surprised by the sudden question. She crossed her arms and glared at the girl. “I’m not crazy!” She snapped and then added in a slightly softer tone “So what if I can talk to animals, what’s it to you? “

"Nothing really, just that maybe you can help us with a problem were having with this horse." Ying answered

Jade blinked. Was the girl serious? She didn't even know her and she wanted her help.

"First off, You can't cut me to pieces. I'm pretty much made of rock. Second off, she is crazy. Third off, no one needs her help and I'm not letting that little brat anywhere near my horse." Lucien folded his arms and glared at the girl, a firm expression on his face. He didn't like that elf one bit, nor did he forsee ever being able to stand her for more than a moment. She was too much of a bratty teenager for his liking. That blonde was worse that most of the annoying people put together. She really needed an attitude adjustment.

Lucien looked to Ying and Yang and debated on saying anything but decided against it. The more he was quiet the less the chance of having the strong urge to flip out on the girl would be. It wasn't above him to freak out on random people, but it was above him to beat up a little, big-mouthed girl. If he reallly wanted to he probably could've continued the little argument but he was sick of hearing that females voice. Just hearing it made him want to plug his ears and walk away.

That thought got the prince started on thinking how childish he could be. It was kind of fun to be that way yet at the same time it was kind of anoying. Was it possible to annoy yourself? It probably was if you didn't do much of anything. Especially if you talked to yourself all the time. Lucien smiled slightly and looked at the elf. For all they knew she wasn't talking to the wolf; she was talking to herself and pretending to talk to the wolf. Lucien took that into consideration and stood by his desicion, she wasn't going to be near Percy unless she had to be.

Jade smirked at the guy but didn't say anything. This was quite entertaining, especially since he was fighting back instead of whimpering like a little girl. She looked at the twins, they were an interesting pair.

Ying ignored what Lucien was saying. She was curious about this pretty and mean elf girl. "Whats your favorite food?"

I know i say this about everything, but i don’t think it is a good idea. She is already mean enough, i would hate to see what she is like when she is angry. Yang said to his sister.

Jade eyed the girl suspiciously. She was trying to figure out the purpose for the girl asking such a question. “What is with all these questions? Don’t you guys have anything better do?”

“Not really.” Ying said

Hiowie layed on the ground figuring this was probably going to last awhile. Why not just answer their questions and stop being so mean. Maybe it will go quicker that way.

Jade looked at Hiowie but decided agents commenting since the trio seemed to think she was nuts already. “I likes those hard shell candies with the soft chocolate in the middle.”

Ying smiled and started laughing.

“What is so funny about that?” Jade asked irritatedly almost on the verge of getting angry.

Yang covered his sisters mouth before she could say anything and dragged her away. “Don’t mind her she laughs at everything.” Yang said trying to cover it up. Shut up would you, stop pestering people with your personality analogies based on food. If you are going to say what i think you are going to say she will probably kill us.

Jade raised an eyebrow at the two wondering what was going on. She half looked at Lucien. “Are they always like this?”

Lucien shook his head when Ying asked about the favorite food, gaffawing when Jade answered. He quickly quieted himself, trying to make sure it wouldn't happen again. If that personality thing she had going on worked then the elf was probably just faking the whole exterior, like Lucien tried to do. It normally worked but occasionally the soft little compassionate human got out and spoiled everything.

"Normally they are like that. Pretty much all the time." Lucien answered the girls question quietly, enjoying the thought. If that elf was soft in the middle then she was pretty good at acting.

Jade looked at the three getting more annoyed by the minute. "What the hell are you guys laughing at?!" She said in a raised voice. She fixed the three with a glare her temper was dangerously close to being lost.

Ying pulled Yangs hands off her mouth and went over to the elf girl. " Your only pretending to be rough and mean. Inside your just vulnerable and actually quite sensitive. You keep people away with your attitude because your afraid of getting hurt. Someone must have really hurt you in the past to make you like this." Ying said seriously.

Hiowie chuckled to himself. These werewolf twins are quite bright, especially the girl. She is on to you and your trick.

Jade stared at the girl long and hard. Disbelieving the words coming out of her mouth. It struck a nerve, but she refused to let them see that. Jade laughed and looked at the girl with with an amused smile. "Right, and you get all that from my food preference? Interesting little joke, you really had me going. Don't be so dumb you can't really think that works. And besides it was a lie, you don't really think i would tell a total stranger anything do you?" Jade gave a side ways glare, trying to get the wolf to keep quiet for once.

nice save, but i doubt it will work.

Yang watched Ying and shook his head at her. Why couldn't she just leave people alone. He thought to himself wondering what Ying would say about him if she knew what his favorite food was. But decided not to say anything, it still seemed valueless. How can food preference have anything to do with personality.

"She's not dumb. She just acts a little crazy sometimes. But the food preference thing does work. Think about it for a while." Lucien had managed to go over and lean against the wall, kicking back and relaxing. At least this was something to pass the time, right? Even if the blonde was mouthy he could live with her for a little while longer.

Lucien shook his head, a small smile resting on his pale face. "I don't know about you guys but I think she's lying. Look at the expression, the actions." Lucien raised an eyebrow and studied the elf, shaking his head. Many people were skilled liars but the prince figured he had won the title. His accusation was based on a hunch; not fact. It wasn't like he could read minds or anything. He just had that.... gut feeling.

Lucien looked up to the sky; still dark and cloudless. It was peaceful enough in the silence. Soon enough it would be broken, though. Creativity and imagination, what Ying had, were the key to figuring the food preference thing out. Apparently everyone else hadn't figured that out yet. The prince shook his head and looked back over to the others, studying them carefully. Ying was something else; light and bubbly. Yang was serious and mysterious, not saying much anything unless he had to. Jade was a misunderstood elf who liked to get on people's nerves. Those were all based on how much he had witnessed when being around them. Lucien wondered what he was in thier eyes. It was hard to tell, but he hoped he wasn't a horrible person. The majority of him wouldn't care but the minority would be crushed.

"Whatever. You wrong but I'm not going to waste my time explaining myself to random people." Jade said irritatedly. She crossed her arms and looked at the gate impatiently.

Yang nodded at what Lucien said. He agreed that the elf was probably lying. Her mood changed to drastically and fast. She was clearly covering something up.

Ying shrugged at the elf and looked at the wolf. "can i pet him?"

"Hiowie is a wild wolf. You can pet him if you want your hand chewed off." Jade said bitterly.

why would i bite off a relatives hand? Hiowie responded amused at Jades attempt to regain her " mean image"

Lucien grinned like a mad man off to the side. His eyes shined brilliantly in the light, a faint image of the moon in them. "This is rather interesting." Lucien didn't know why but figured it was because of the human. It was fun just to randomly blame things on the human; it was nice and gave his other two sides a break. Suddenly the gates just slammed open and a trio of soilders walked out, weapons at the ready. Lucien stayed where he was, watching quietly. He hoped he was still out of sight.

"You are being too noisy out here. People are trying to sleep. I could hear you inside the walls of the town. If you refuse to be quiet I'm afraid we'll have to arrest you." The taller of the tree men said this, apparently the one who was in charge. Lucien really hoped that someone wouldn't speak out of place and screw it up, getting them arrested.

Ying smiled at the guards. "Were sorry we were just having a little chat....i guess it got out of hand." She stayed where she was and watched the guards. They didn't seem threatening or bad, they were just doing their job. Some grumpy old guy probably complained about the noise and sent them to look.

Yang watched the elf girl something told him she wasn't going to be as polite about the situation as his sister was. Actually she was probably going to tell them off. He got up and whispered his worries to Ying and pulled her away from the guards. If things got bad he wanted his sister out of the way.

oh no. Hiowie whined to himself. This was not going to be good. He looked at pleadingly Jade. Please don't say anything, hold your temper for once.

Jade clamped her jaw shut and looked at the guards furiously. keep quiet, they were not even making any noise. She struggled inwardly to keep her temper not wanting to get arrested. But if the guards kept pushing she would push back twice as hard.

Lucien bit down on his tongue, hoping that it wouldn't draw blood. So far he hadn't been noticed, or so he hoped. Debating on making his presence clear he decided not too, if something bad happened to them he would be happy to play hero. That was his job, after all. Not really, but he liked to think it was. That made him feel better, on the inside. He didn't know why, though. Probably because his little quiet side fed on that crap. It helped that part stay alive.

"I don't want to hear an apology. I want to have you people make a promise. If you'll shut up and quit disturbing the peace then I'll leave you alone. Don't think we won't hesitate to do something about things, though. We speak more with action than with words." Lucien shook his heads at the words, getting sick of the guy. If Jade didn't tell them to shut up he was probably going to, some time or another.

Jade walked up to the men. "sorry but i fail to understand how exactly were harming your precious city by talking? Were not even being that loud. Frankly i think the only reason why you guys are complaining is because you have the ears of an elephant." Jade said her voice calm but icy. Hiowie probably thought this was a bad idea but she didn't really care. She didn't think they were doing anything wrong and didn't like how the guards were acting all high and mighty. They probably made twice as much noise as they were making anyway.

"I'm sorry miss, but that I don't like being talked to with that tone of yours. It's rather annoying, so is your voice. I suggest you just calm yourself down and leave us in peace. If you'll just walk away, I think that we'll get along much better. We don't want to use force on a young woman such as yourself." Lucien stared at the man and walked out of hiding, eyes emotionless. He always had been a bit hard to read.

"I'm sorry, sir. It's just that, I'm afraid, she and I aren't leaving without getting into that stupid town of yours." Lucien didn't know why he was doing it, but he was. The emotionless glare he was giving didn't really help the situation much, but it would be fine. The looks the guards gave him was priceless. "In my opinion, I think you should stand down. I have more power than you think I do, foolish humans. To think that my father used to rule over you worthless twits." Lucien had switched over to his vampire form, enjoying the better vision and sound. The look on the man's face told him everything. It was disbelief mixed with pure hatred.

"I don't know who you think you are, but we will kill you, too."

Jade scoffed at the guards when they said they would kill them. "Bring it on." she dared. Jade formed a ball of water in her hands. It didn't appear that deadly but if the guards weren't careful she could easily kill them with it. She half looked at the creepy guy called Lucien. "Nice trick." she commented in her normal calm emotionless tone.

Hiowie sighed. Jade couldn't go anywhere with out causing some kind of scene. It was useless for him to do anything now. She was past her reasoning point, all he could do was watch and hope she didn't get herself killed.

The twins sat down and watched. They would help if the others needed it but it looked like they could take care of themselves. For the moment they would just observe.
